of Victoria Retains Results Performance Management
October 9th, 2003,
Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA
- Results Performance Management Inc. is pleased to announce
that the University of Victoria has retained the services of Cheryl
Thomas and her staff, to provide a series of key workshops, program
coordination and administration for the Bachelor of Commerce Program.
Performance Management will be delivering workshops focused on
Communications Skills, Presentation Skills, and Team Development. This
Business Skills component in the introductory third year of the Bachelor
of Commerce program is a mandatory course for all students. As these
workshops are skills-based, and therefore not subject to traditional
examinations, the course has “zero-credit” status. David
McCutcheon, Director, Bachelor of Commerce Program commented,
"Although these workshops do not count towards academic credits, they
are a vital and mandatory component
of the program. These skills are essential for students to complete
follow-on assignments in the program, some of which are heavily weighted
towards their final grade. As well, these skills will support their
preparation for their co-op placement and, in the future, in the
workplace. Very simply, everyone needs to know how to work in teams,
communicate effectively with peers, subordinates and superiors, and
present their concepts with poise and clarity."
Performance Management was seconded for these sessions due to Ms. Thomas'
past work with the University of Victoria in both the Bachelor of Commerce
and MBA programs. The level of outsourcing of services is unique, in that,
not only will Results Performance Management be delivering skills-based
workshops, but will also provide sessional level administration and
coordination within the Bachelor of
Commerce program. This ensures that the skills-based training is
successfully applied and integrated into the program. The training will
take place over the course of the semester, with the majority to be
completed by the end of October.
